\nHand made prototype steel case. Water Resistant to 50 meters (150 feet). The Speakeasy case is evocative of the Roaring 20's in the USA. Art Deco was the design of the era, and is reflected in architecture (Empire State Building, Chrysler Building), art (Picasso), and fashion.<\/p>\n

Movement:<\/strong>
\nVery high Grade, 19 jewel antique Gruen “Precision” Chronometer. Manufactured in 1915 in Switzerland. Adjusted to 5 positions.  Rose gold train wheels,  rose gold balance screws. Fancy screw calibrater regulator.  <\/p>\n

The Gruen Watch Company  was one of the premiere  American watch manufactures. They were headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Gruen's made the decision in the early 1900's to set up a factory in Biel, Switzerland to take advantage of the highly skilled watchmakers of the region. The highest quality Gruen movements were produced in this factory, and only the better quality caliber's were marked “Precision” on the dial and movement. These watchmaking gems were then sent back to the Ohio factory for casing and distribution.<\/p>\n

Dial:<\/strong>
\nOriginal Gruen “Precision” dial made in Switzerland. Beautifully engraved sterling silver, with applied roman numeral numbers. the dial was then gold “Vermeil”.  Vermeil is an older process where the base metal used has to be sterling silver, which is much better for those who have skin allergies to other base metals. The silver is then gold-plated, but with a thicker coating, often as much as 50% thicker than a traditional gold-plated piece. The hands are original  antique blued steel.<\/p>\n
